OVERVIEW

SEED Rise is an after-school, youth development program for 1,050 boys and girls (grades K-12) in Senegal and The Gambia. Rise offers basketball clinics, academic tutoring, and life skills lessons for youth, while also working with local schools, basketball clubs, and coaches to create infrastructure that systematically aligns with education, leadership and social responsibility.

Through Rise, we train physical education teachers and basketball coaches in our dynamic life skills curriculum that uses the game of basketball as the context to youth how to be leaders and engaged citizens. Each student’s primary goal is to stay on track to be promoted to the next grade in school, and, ultimately, to graduate high school and matriculate to university.

Rise Gambia:

In 2016, we teamed-up with Gambian-based non-profit, Ascend Together, to launch Rise Gambia, an after-school program for middle school students.  Using our life skills curriculum and monitoring & evaluation procedures developed through Live, Learn & Play, we trained local Gambian coaches to implement our Rise model in partnership with Ascend.

In 2017, we aim to serve more than 300 students and continue to inspire youth across Gambia.
