History

  • In 1998, driven by his passion for giving back to the youth of his native country of Senegal, Africa, Amadou Gallo Fall established the SEEDS (Sports for Education and Economic Development in Senegal) Foundation as a U.S. Registered 501(c)(3) to provide educational opportunities to Senegalese youth.
  • The primary program of the SEEDS Foundations is SEEDS Academy, a boarding school in Thies, Senegal, created in 2003 to provide Senegalese boys with a place to live, study and train in basketball, year-round.
  • In 2003, Mr. Fall helped establish the NBA Africa 100 Camp, a basketball and life skills program for African youth, ages 14-18. The Camp proved quickly successful.
  • The camp was then transformed into the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Program which spent its initial six years of existence in South Africa.
  • In August of 2010, the Program was held in Senegal, with Fall serving as the director. Mr. Fall is now NBA's Vice President, Development in Africa.
  • Mohammed Faye became the first Student-Athlete to graduate from SEEDS Academy and accept a full scholarship to a U.S. University directly.
  • Mr. Faye graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, TX, after transferring from Georgia Tech.
  • In its 10th year, SEEDS now has more than 20 alumni in the U.S. pursuing their degrees.
